Being a summer girl myself, I hate the cold. The things I enjoy the most about winter are big woolly sweaters, bottomless mugs of coffee and sitting by the fire with a Jane Austen novel. Basically, anything that makes me feel warm again. I also work from home, so a perk or two of this online business thing is that I get to avoid the morning commute into the city, and can bundle up on the couch in my sweats during telephone conference calls with clients. Aka, avoiding anything that makes me feel cold.
That said, there's something natural about entering hibernation-mode during winter. And let's be honest, when you work from home it's way too easy to throw a blanket around your entire body and wish you were a baked potato. That can get very unproductive very quickly.
But we all know, as entrepreneurs, that if we're not working we don't make money. Winter is always a trying time when my motivation and ambition are tested. I have to work very consciously to stay focused, efficient, and applied in my business. Tackling our to-do lists and meeting client deadlines can't be interrupted because it’s cold outside and our feet feel like icicles. We’ve got to keep ourselves motivated!
For some of you entrepreneurs, winter may be glorious. But for those of us who are summer birds, here are a few tips for setting yourself up for success and showing those winter blues who's boss.
For my fellow entrepreneurs who struggle with feeling lonely, down or unmotivated by the cold, winter weather, know that you're not alone! Many of us business owners who work from home feel the exact same.
Keeping on keeping on!
